Aikido

Aikido is NOT a conventional fighting art.  It is non-competitive and non-violent in nature.  With the use of joint locking and throwing techniques to pin an aggressor, Aikido develops the ability to harmonize with, and thus redirect, opposing forces.  With the goal to disrupt the attackers balance, timing and control are used rather than brute strength.  With the development of basic movements Aikido provides a very powerful means of self-defense without adding aggression.  Through regular training comes confidence, mental focus, and composure.

Youth Aikido

Students will learn discipline and respect for self and others, all the while learning age appropriate bully defense strategies. Aikido helps to foster self-control, focus, coordination, balance, and a strong mind/body connection. Aikido is based on martial principles, but with peace, harmony and self-improvement as its goals. Physical benefits include flexibility, agility, balance, stamina, and strength. Training is fun and teaches conflict resolution and self-defense skills for life.

FAQ

NOT martial arts!

Martial Sciences International (MSI) is the premier professional grade martial training organization in the world.  Click for more information.

Yes, contact us at mugenkansogobujutsu@gmail.com or michiganmartialtrainingcenter@gmail.com or call us at 248-906-8163 to set-up your first class.

After your first class, we decide together on which program you will be in, then you start to attend classes.

There are NO contracts with us.  We have one rule:  Just Show Up.  We require payment for the month in advance, but if you take a month off, you don’t pay for that month.

We do have a testing registration fee that is $25 to cover certificates and belts.

It all depends on the programs you choose, so come for your no-cost trial class and we will accommodate your specific needs.

Eventually you will need a uniform, but in the beginning, clean, comfortable clothing is fine.  In classical martial training, a uniform is earned, so once you are eligible, you will be able to wear the official uniform.

Never!  Martial training is for everyone, ever adaptable to meet specific situations and needs.

Youth Aikido is open for students starting at 6-years old.  As we do NOT spend our time simply playing games, and technical skill and ability are focused in while increasing confidence, etc., younger than 6-years old makes our environment not the most conducive for them.

This is a question that does not have a specific answer.  It really all depends on the two most important aspects of training – not talent or physical ability!  Your progress in proficiency depends on your attitude and attendance…with proper attitude and good attendance, your progress is accelerated.

ALL of the instructors of the Mugenkan/Michigan Martial Training Center have decades of martial experience, and more importantly, all are INTERNATIONALLY LICENSED, after extensive specialized training.  ALL of the instructors have been awarded the MARTIAL TITLE of SHIHAN, one of the highest martial licenses awarded.

The nature of our training is not conducive to tournament participation. We are NOT a tournament school, never seeking trophies and recognition for artificial performances.
